The
goal of our organization is to provide the capital city
of Texas with first-quality and highly original works
of monumental statuary. It is not our intention to recreate
the stiff, formal postures of the past. We believe that
the works themselves should reflect the wit and charm
and common humanity of the culture that we live in.
The art that we commission will be given to the City
of Austin for the pleasure and edification of its citizens.

Angelina Eberly statue
by Pat Oliphant |
|
On Sunday, September 26, 2004, our
newest statue was unveiled at the corner of Sixth Street
and Congress Avenue in downtown Austin, TX. Angelina
Eberly, known by some as the "Savior of Austin,"
has been depicted by sculptor and renowned cartoonist,
Pat Oliphant, in her heroic stance at the town cannon
in 1842, chasing off the Sam Houston's vandalous Texas
Rangers in their attempt to steal off with the state's
archives in the middle of the night. Click

CAST's first project, Philosophers'
Rock, was installed in 1994 at the entrance to Austin's
popular and historical Barton Springs Pool. Designed
by the renowned sculptor Glenna Goodacre (who also designed
the Vietnam Women's Memorial in Washington, DC, and
the image of Sacajawea on the one-dollar coin), the
statue depicts three of Central Texas's most famous
writers and intellectuals engaged in spirited debate
at water's edge. Click
